Voices of the Great Lakes

Over twenty-five years broadcasting from Boma Hill, connecting communities through Afrikan heritage, local news, and music.

Our Journey

From Mbarara to the Region

Established in 1998 at Plot 20A Boma Hill, Mbarara City, Greater Afrikan Radio began as a beacon for local voices. Our commitment to grassroots community dialogue quickly expanded our reach across Western Uganda.

Today, our signal connects communities across Central Uganda, northern Rwanda, Tanzania, and parts of the mid-eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, fostering a shared Great Lakes soundscape.

Our Mandate

Educating, Informing, Preserving Afrikan Identity

We provide original, culturally relevant content that encourages listeners to understand their history, appreciate their identity, and participate in community development.

Our Voices

Speaking to Every Community

We broadcast in the native rhythms of our region, ensuring every listener hears their story, their news, and their music in a language they identify with.
